"GOD SPEED" BROTHER.
DEPUTY M. METCALF
LOS ANGELES CO. SHERIFF
July 11, 2006
DAVE I MISS YOU SO MUCH. I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARE GONE. I WAS JUST WITH YOU ON THE 4TH. NOTHING FEELS REAL YET. I FEEL LIKE YOU JUST WENT TO VEGAS OR SOMETHING. I KEEP CALLING YOUR CELL JUST TO HEAR YOUR VOICE. DAVE IM DYING INSIDE PLEASE HELP ME GET THROUGH ALL OF THIS. I ALWAYS LOOKED UP TO YOU.YOU WERE THE PERFECT BIG BROTHER. I WILL MAKE SURE I AM THERE FOR SHAWNA AND THE KIDS. I WAS JUST AT YOUR HOUSE WITH JUSTIN. I PROMISE I WILL HELP RAISE HIM LIKE YOU WOULD HAVE WANTED. I HAVE PLENTY OF STORIES FOR YOUR KIDS. IT SEEMS JUST LIKE YESTERDAY WHEN WE USE TO SHARE BUNK BEDS. I MISS THOSE DAYS. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT A GREAT DAD,BROTHER,UNCLE,SON, AND DEPUTY YOU WERE.I LOVE YOU FOREVER DAVE.YOU WILL BE MISSED DEARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BROTHERS PRAYER
The room is in near darkness now, lit only by a faint firelight. The flames are dying – no! I will not use that word! – yet you remain pale and unmoving, your only colour a faint flush of fever.
It seems I have been at your side for an eternity, holding you, calling you. I talk incessantly, until I weary of my own voice, offering you an anchor, something to cling to when you finally cease your desperate wanderings in nightmare. I try to follow you, to show you the path of return, but you are lost to me, lost in darkness. I cannot find you.
Please, my brother, hear my voice. Come back to me, to all of us, wake from your dreams of darkness and return to the light. Where are you? What evil thoughts haunt your dreams? Why do you not wake?
My fear grows that you are lost to us, and I fear for the future. I do not think I could continue alone, without you at my side, for we have been together all our lives – yet I know our parents could not endure a double loss.
I love you, DAVE Please do not leave me.

One of the most outstanding Sheriffs, son, brother, relative, and friend. My best friend's brother is a hero in many ways. Served our country, serverd our county, and did it with such detail and compassion. At age 34, accomplished more then most could in a life time. Not only did you make a difference to our nation you made a difference to our lives and always will.
Thanks to the parents of Dave Stan Piquette for bringing out the best in us all..

Why does God always take the best one's? He must know something we don't and he needs the best to keep everthing in heaven in line.
I know We will see each other again someday in a better place free of crime. When we do it will be my turn to tap you out. With your assistance may God protect us all from evil down here on earth who do our best to protect others.

Dave, Hi still can't believe what happen I just keep staring at your picture here. You touched so many people lives even the little people that don't belong to a station or wear a badge. I keep your family in prayers and pray for guidence during this time. Please watch over my family and friends when they are out in the street and I'll take what you said, "I've got heart" no YOU do!.....
Police Officers Prayer Poem
"THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL"
"Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass. He hoped
his shoes were shinning, just as brightly as his badge brass.
The Lord said, "Step forward now policeman. How shall I deal with you"? "Have
you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true"?
The policeman squared his shoulders and answered, "No Lord, I guess I ain't,
because those who carry badges can't always be saints". "I've had to work most
Sundays and at times my talk was rough... and sometimes I've been violent because
the streets are awful tough".
"But I've never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...so I worked a lot of
overtime when bills got to steep". "I never passed up a cry for help, though at
times I shook with fear...And sometimes I may have wept unmanly tears".
"I know I may not deserve a place among the people here...They never wanted me
except to calm their fears".
"If you have a place for me here, Lord it doesn't need to be grand...I've never
expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand".
There was a silence all around the heavens, where Saints had often trod as the
policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now policeman, You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on
Heaven's Street, You've done your time in Hell".
Rest in Peace my friend hugs bugs,

David, you will be truly missed by everyone whom you have touched with your professional demeanor, knowledgeable training, and kind personality. I recently asked you to thank the troops for their help during a life threatening incident. In a straight-from-the-heart reply, you told me the following:
"I know having worked Century Station the rallying of troops is something that is done because it does come for the heart. Century Station is no stranger to losing one of our own and we know how hard it can be. We as a station have dealt with this type of tragedy way too often. Trust me the guys at the station would do it again.....as far as we are all concerned we are all one big family. Semper Fi!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Dave... In this time of need, the troops are rallying for you and your family. A life cannot be replaced, but you will always be remembered and respected for the great man you are and the impact on the lives of the people who were lucky enough to know you. God bless you and your family.

Deputy Piquette, the picture accompanying your memorial page shows what appears to be a guy who just loves life and is out to have a good time. To take a job in law enforcement, you certainly had that serious side as well, but it's the guy in that picture that will be missed most of all. I know you'll never be far from the sides of those you have left behind.
God Bless and Rest in Peace, Brother.

It was an absolute honor to work with and alongside David. He was the comsumate professional in every sense of the word. I saw first hand how he loved teaching recruits and how much he enjoyed being around them. Simply put, Dave was damn good at what he did and did it better than most people. I believe that God holds a special place in heaven for people like Dave and for some comfort in the fact that he is in the company of so many special people who come before him. Dave, you can rest assured my friend that your legacey of excellence, dedication, and committment will carry on by your family at the Training Bureau and by the hundreds of recruits whose lives you touched. Rest in peace my friend.

It's been a tough time for all of us Davey. I was there when you started your patrol career and we both shared the same goals. You were one person I admired in a department with a lot of people striving for the same thing.
Watch over your family. Watch over your partners when you can. Be the light we see when we need it.
We fought in the same ring, now help me along the path.
Rest in Peace Bro....Love always

Dave,
What happened? Where did you go? I heard the news very early as you can imagine. A part of me died with you that morning. I have tried not believing it, but it's finally sinking in. I pick up my cell phone every day and try and call you, but know that you are gone. I have a huge knot in my stomach, that won't go away. You were my best friend, and for that I thank you. Some people were jealous of you, but I was proud of you. I will NEVER forget you, and rest assured that your family will be taken care of.
I love you....

Dave,
It was a pleasure and an honor to work with you and call you friend. Your level of enthusiasm, dedication to duty, and commitment were unparalleled. Your service to our country as a U.S. Marine and your service to the people of Los Angeles County as a Deputy Sheriff are a testament to how much of yourself that you gave to others.
You have left your imprint on society and the Deputies that you trained will be your legacy. I find comfort in the fact that you will now be watching over and protecting us.
The trait I will remember most about you above your strength & honor will be the love you showed for your family when I watched you put together that DVD of your vacation with them. I’ll never forget how your eyes were glossy when you finished it and told me how much Shawna will be moved by it.
I will always remember you my brother,

Sir(!),
I will always remember your patience, understanding, and guidance in my rides with you at Century. I will always cherish the times I spent training and instructing use of force/defensive tactics with you.
You have made more of a difference in my life (as well as so many others) than you will ever know. I promise to do my best to become the kind of deputy and person that you set an example to be.
You will always be my friend and daddy. I miss you already.
